5/23/04 Firth, Neb. The bleachers on the softball field at Norris School District 160 near Firth Neb are bent into a metal ball due to a tornado. Also bats and balls were scattered all over the field. The school sustained severe damage in Saturday night's tornadoes. The school, according to Superintendent Roy Baker, housed about 1,700 students from pre-kindergarten through high school. The last day of classes was Friday for the students although there were some middle school teachers inside at the time according to Baker. "The day after the tornado, it's hard to imagine kids coming back on time in August," said Baker. (Photo by Chris Machian/Machian Photo)
